Well the title kinda says it all. Anyone have a clue as to what shape the GA's fleets are in. If I have to I'll start one from scratch, just tell me what the rules are that I'm working within.

This is, more the likely, a question best answered by browsing through the archives. I will post what I can find. It is up to you whether you want to use it, as is, or modify it. I will gladly assist you in this, btw.
Also, there aren't any rules, as of yet, regarding ships and fleets. It was decided that Management will give players some free reign in designing their fleets, and that Managers would handle any disputes or blatant nonsense on a case by case basis. If it gets ridiculous, however, we'll be forced to implement dreaded fleet rules once more.
Considering, however, that we have few players, too many rules at this point would be prohibitive. However, I'll gladly give you my input on what I think the GA's fleet should be.
Anyway, here is what I have found so far:
G.A. Shipyards Mon Calamari (10 Super Heavy), (30 Heavy), (30 Medium) Bunduki (10 Super Heavy), (20 Heavy), (30 Medium) Naboo (6 Heavy), (6 Light)
These shipyards correspond to shipyard classes used in the old fleet rules. I suppose they can still be used now...just as a determinant of what they are building. Also, I assume there are more shipyards in the GA (such as Sluis Van and any former imperial shipyards the GA may still hold control of).
Also, here is the list of the GA's fleet, as of Aug 2, 2008:
Galactic Alliance Fleet Strike Force One 1 Advanced Star Destroyer* 5 Pallaeon-class Star Destroyers 10 Sabertooth-class Assault Vessels 30 Scythe-class Main Battle Cruisers 42 Galactic Alliance Frigates *Freedom Strike Force Two 1 Pallaeon-class Star Destroyer* 10 Sabertooth-class Assault Vessels 30 Scythe-class Main Battle Cruisers 47 Galactic Alliance Frigates *Sacrifice Strike Force Three 10 Sabertooth-class Assault Vessels 30 Scythe-class Main Battle Cruisers 48* Galactic Alliance Frigates *Devotion Strike Force Four 10 Sabertooth-class Assault Vessels 30 Scythe-class Main Battle Cruisers 48* Galactic Alliance Frigates *Hope
Now, I have no clue, really, what any of those ships are, as they seem to have been freely invented back in the day. But, this SHOULD give you an idea of what the size used to be.
However, this is only three strike groups. Since the GA is the largest sociopolitical group in the galaxy at the moment, I would foresee that they would also have the largest fleet. I think it would be fair to say that it would be comparable to the the US Navy, which currently has 6 operational fleets, and has had 12 historically.
The number of fleets (in the Navy's case, based around 1 or more of our 11 aircraft carriers) is dependent on the political situation: wartime means more fleets. You'll have to gauge where the GA is in terms of its combat readiness and what it expects to deal with in the near future. Suffice it to say, creating another fleet generally doesn't go unnoticed in the galaxy....
Also, in the US example, each fleet has an area of responsibility. E.g. the 2nd fleet of the US Navy patrols the Atlantic ocean in both hemispheres. I would assume the GA has something similar. When necessary, it pulls elements from a certain fleet to create a task force (invasion, defense, etc.), but also has single ships on patrol duty (frigates and cruisers).
Again, everything's up to you. But I do offer you my services.

What Taaru said, you can use what he found as an idea for numbers, The last chief of state - and the head of his Navy was well..murdered I believe, so the fleet might well be in a state of chaos lol
As long as you don't show up with 5000 unstoppable capital ships to a battle I won't complain to much.
Taaru is great with ships and such things by the way - so I'd take him up on his help if I were you.

Thank you Taaru. I was looking through there for awhile and could not find anyhting. I have seen some of those ships before the name seem to be from the legacy era although I'm not familiar with the full stats used for them here. Also I'm curious if you're in the US Navy then or do you just have a good knowledge thereof. Also I think I'm gonna go back to the cannon 5 Fleet system that the NR had, stats I might go steal from else where and adapt. But the death of the CoS and the Supreme Commander will make for good RPing of retaking the GA's Fleets and or taking out any possible 'Warlords' per the Empire post-Endor. Off the bat I know I'm moving the shipyards from Naboo someplace.

No, I'm not in the Navy. It is, however, one of the things I have an interest in. Plus, it makes for easy reference when you're trying to build sector fleets.
Also, I remind you: The GA is a democracy. The head of state isn't really that important. Sure, if they die, it may be a morale blow to the state, but the organs of the state continue to function without a hitch. You shouldn't have to worry about warlords or reclaiming errant fleets. The only thing you should worry about is making sure the immediate subordinate to the CoS becomes the new one.

Thats cool, I only ask because I'm in the process of going in.
1 The GA is a Republic not a Democracy. 2 Isn't the GA more 'Imperial' recently especially toward Force Users? 3 Anyone knowwho the CoS' highest subordinate was? Is said subordinate still active?

Republic = representative democracy. The terms are interchangeable since a democracy, in the style of ancient Greek city states, doesn't really exist except maybe on a township level in some countries.
What I mean by the GA is a democracy is that state powers are generally diffused throughout the state. The chief of the executive's death, again, may be a blow to civic morale...but the state continues to function because there's plenty of people to take his/her place.
The GA isn't Imperial in that it doesn't have an emperor, nor is it administrated like an Empire. It may have certain restrictive policies towards Force Users because of what happened on Naboo. It's the same way the US has a "policy" against terrorists: Warfare/police action in the name of the greater good of the country and its denizens, whether or not this is actually the case.
No one ever actually played the CoS's subordinate, but in terms of succession, I assume there is either a Vice Chief of State that takes power immediately afterward, or an emergency meeting of the Senate must decide on a new one after deciding on candidates.

Alright, we'll start with shipyards then:
1) If you take a look at the galaxy map that we use exclusively (found here), you'll see that while Fondor and Duro are nestled within the Core Worlds region, Mon Calamari is actually way out to the "south" of the tip of the Perlemian trade route (incorrectly spelled "Parlemian" on the map).
Now, you may like this geographic separation of your main forces, to cover more ground. But realize that a distress signal from Mon Calamari would take a few weeks to respond to from the nearest fleet HQ at Bothawui.
On the other hand, you may want to sacrifice shipyards at Duro or Fondor and place shipyards somewhere to the galactic south to get more coverage (I could recommend Sluis Van).
This isn't a criticism of your decision, simply an observation. Also, it gives me a chance to show off this map, which, despite its flaws, is really excellent.
2) The stats for the Pellaeon-class SD may be found here.
3) What is the length of the MC-200 and the MC-150?
4) How have the Strike Cruisers been modified?
5) What is the length and main purpose of Bothan assault cruisers?
6) Any stats on the Bulwark MK II Battlecruisers?
7) How do you propose to have Corellian Missile Frigates when Corellia currently doesn't produce these, or sells ships to the GA? Also, is their purpose anti-starfighter or anti-capital vessel?
8) 20 Super Heavy shipyards total seems like a bit much. Super heavy is generally reserved for 1600 meters and up (so anything bigger than a ISD I). Few ships get that large, and it seems to me that your current spread doesn't have that many super heavies to require that many shipyards. I would probably halve this and invest the remaining ten shipyards into more light shipyards. After all, you are a pangalactic government: Light frigates are the rule of thumb for sector patrol duties in less important systems...and you have plenty of not-so-important systems.
9) As far as the numbers go, you look pretty solid. It's 343 ships in total. If you want, I'll let you shore up your medium class to make it an even 380 (Medium class, in my estimation, being smaller cruisers, generally 750m-1000m in length).

1) I actually started with the Idea of using Sluis Van and not Fondor, I'm still debating some aspects of that and fleet dispersal and all...
2) We already talked about that one
3) the MC200 and 150 are big, they're 13500m and 8000m respectively
4,5,6) Modified Strike Cruiser Length: 450 Meters Weaponary: 2 Gravity Well Projectors, 1 Projectile Launcher, 20 Turbolaser Cannons, 20 Ion Cannons, 20 Tractor Beam Projectors Speed: 16 MGLT Hull: 1,522 RU Shields: 2,560 SBD Hyperdrive: X2
Bothan Assualt Cruiser Length: 850 Meters Weaponary: 24 Heavy Double Turbolaser Cannons, 20 Turbolaser Batteries, 10 Ion Cannons, 20 Proton Torpedo Launcher, 6 Tractor Beam Projectors Speed: 20 MGLT Hull: 3,200RU Shield rating: 4,800 SBD Hyperdrive: X1 Hanger: 4 Squadrons
Bulwark MKII Class Battlecruiser Length: 4,868 Meters Weaponary: 100 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries, 150 Turbolaser Batteries, 100 Ion Cannons, 18 Tractor Beam Projectors Speed: 10 MGLT Hull: 40,096 RU Shields: 30,992 SBD Hyperdrive: X1 Hanger: 10 Squadrons
7) Well I was gonna go with that the GA was founded with Corellia as a central member and thus its designs would have been known to the GA and althought the system itslef is no longer a member the designs themselves would still be known. Also they are anti-capital.
8) This is a good point and combined with (1) I am debating with my self whether or not to incease the number of fleets and shipyards and cut down the size of each individual. However, now that you see the lengths of soem of these, you can see why so many. However as I expect this to change lets go from there.
9) Yay free ships!

Okay. One last thing: What are the lengths on the Galactic Alliance and Corellian Missile Frigates, so I can classify them?
Otherwise, you are free to post this in Fleet Information. As before, I recommend you post stats for the various ships as well. You may also entertain the idea of creating threads in the GA subforum for each of the major fleet headquarters throughout the GA.

700 and 450 respectively making both Mediums

Alrighty, then.
Also, looking through wookiepedia and doing some comparisons with real life navies, I decided to reformat the classification system I gave you earlier.
500m and under are light ships, while 500m to 1000m meters or mediums.
Thus, the missile frigates fall into the light category, at least in my reckoning.
After all, it's all arbitrary.
Edit: Also, feel free to post this in the RP Info Subforum, with ship stats.
