Personality: Aurelian acts out of what she believes to be her moral responsibility to the galaxy. She's a firm believer in ends justifying the means, however, and this has become more and more true as she has been forced to work furtively and desperately against a seemingly increasingly dangerous set of enemies. The corruption of her political career has been manipulated entirely without her knowledge - Arden preyed upon the fact that in her youth she had lost someone dear to her at the hands of a Force User, and had shown considerable anti-Jedi sentiment as a result.
Now that she is COS, Aurelian has the terrifying power to turn this fear of the Force into a weapon that could severely cripple the Jedi. Though she has the best intentions at heart, she lets her fear and paranoia blind her, seeing conspiracies everywhere. Unfortunately, she is both resourceful, capable, and confident when it comes to fighting these conspiracies - playing right into the Sith's hands.
History/Background: When Naboo became the hub of Sith activities, Aurelian Makilles found her political career taking a total 180. The Senator, who had lost a sister to a crazed Force user in her youth, was preyed upon by Lady Arden Vader, who wished to work a Force-fearing politician into the seat of COS. Makilles was manipulated into believing that the attacks on Moenia, etc. were the work of the Jedi Council seeking to stop an escaped Jedi who knew of Sith within the Temple. She went to the Chief of State, Elloerrs, pitching that the GA had to find a way to place limits on the power of the Jedi, and eventually the DJO. She worked with Senator Batru the Hutt of Nal Hutta when Elloerrs dismissed her fears, and the two began undertaking some illegal gains to find information about the traitors within the Jedi. A proposal was passed to research new weapons to fight Force users.
When five planets were attacked, the Senate rushed to provide them with aid, and the planets joined the fold of the GA very quickly. Batru and Aurelian brought evidence to the Senate that the attacks were perpetrated by a conspiracy between the COS and the "Jedi" Council, controlled by Sith. They believed the previous COS had been driven mad by Sith to place their own pawn in the position. They called a no-confidence vote in Elloerrs, and Aurelian backed a candidate named Uladin. Uladin and Aurelian were elected Joint Chief of State.
Upon her appointment to the position, the Hutt turned on her, and blackmailed her into providing special security privileges to Nal Hutta. He threatened to expose the illegal activities the two had participated in to find dirt on Elloers if she did not cooperate. Meanwhile, Uladin and Aurelian worked on developing the anti-chlorian technology which could strip Force users of their powers, using the funds the Senate voted towards developing weaponry.
