He grins: "I don't mean to be sneaky. Honest, Auntie Jet. And yes, I am. I never thought it'd be possible for me to get bored of just reading, but I was reaching that point pretty quickly."
He sits up straight, putting his palms on his knees.
"But I DID enjoy catching up on my pleasure reading."

Jet gives him a look, a look which clearly indicates she questions his honesty about being sneaky. It's mostly in jest however..this isn't the first time and likely wouldn't be the last that Taaru has managed to sneak up on her, he was just inherently better at it then most and Jet wasn't to bothered about it because she trusted him. If it had been an enemy capable of such things she'd be a bit more proactive in discouraging it.
"I'm going to assume your pleasure reading isn't the same smut most other males consider pleasure reading and chance asking you what you read"

"And I'll heartily answer in the affirmative, given the proviso that a treatise on the interplay of society, culture, language and the engineering sciences isn't considered smut by my worthy colleague."

"Generally not" She confirmed "And lucky you, can't recall the last time I read something I actually wanted to read" She mused for a few moments, as though trying to actually recall "years ago I expect" Shrugging slightly she replaced what she suspected was a faulty powercell with the new one she'd had Ice fetch for her.
"So what brings you down to my little corner of the Faustus?" She had half expected Aralee to snap him up almost as soon as he was released..or the Thruvarans for that matter. Swept off to handle whatever had fallen by the wayside in his absence.

"Well, I just got back from a host of briefings and a chat with Miko to get back up-to-date. Was on my way back from the galley and figured I'd drop in."
He turns his head to the side to view the vast expanse of the ship's hangar bays. Though Jet's little enclave was relatively quiet, the place was bustling with activity. Technician's were hauling ships out of their storage racks for routine checkups and maintenance on an almost constant basis. Marines were doing the same with their suits, which were also stored here, near the dropship bay.
"That, and we have that bit of unfinished business."

Following his gaze she eyes the activity for a few moments, she rather liked the bustle..she even liked the noise inherent in any good hanger, it reminded her of the early days somewhat, days she's spent with Grifter and later Dylan as they saw to the DJO's small fleet of fighters. This was on a grander scale it was true a much larger scale if she was honest with herself...but it was also the same to some degree and the people here were busy, too busy to stop and chat for the most part and they left her alone - it was like having company without the irritating parts.
"I was wondering if you were going to follow through with that, you didn't seem to keen on the idea when I proposed it." She stated holding her - hopefully - repaired saber out in front of her to ignite it, the familiar sound and violet light from the blade was reassuring and after waiting a while with no sign of a flicker she was satisfied..and thankful that it hadn't been anything more. She was rather fond of this saber and disengaging it she clipped it back to her belt where it belonged.

"I'm still not very enthusiastic," he admits, sullenly. "But you convinced me that it's better to be a have, than a have-not...though I have my philosophical scruples about that as a separate topic."
He smiles, sitting up and resting a fist on his thigh, realizing that he is treading into another long-winded topic and hoping to stop himself before he does: "But we can have it out about that at a different time. Was there a particular place you wanted to try this?"

"Thankfully enthusiasm is not a requirement..merely willingness" She responded, his tone made it pretty clear that he wasn't looking forward to the attempt - but he was here, so at least he'd come to the conclusion that it was currently their best option. If she was truthful she'd admit she wasn't necessarily looking forward to it either, she'd be just as vulnerable as he was during the process and Jet - above and beyond almost anything else completely despised not being in control of something.
But she was willing to ignore that for now in lieu of attempting to help him, of course she could still control one thing and she nodded slightly "I was thinking The Shadowchaser" She patted the ship lovingly "No one will come around and break our concentration, it's secure and comfortable"

He studies Jet's ship.
"Are you sure? Given the nature of what might happen? You've alot invested in her," which was true, both financially and emotionally. Taaru might have this little problem sorted out, but if he put an unintended dent in the Chaser, he'd be lucky to wake up at all.

"The Chaser is special, but she's been shot up,crash landed and banged around more then once in her career...I love her, but she's a ship..she can always be rebuilt" Jet Responded with a slight shrug.
"Besides, a you've already pointed out..if you go all haywire during this little experiment we're all going to be sucking vacuum anyways remember?" She pointed out.

He stands, finally, and brushes his thighs off, more out of habit than to clean any dust off his lap.
"That's what you're supposed to prevent. But I see the wisdom in doing it out of sight, since that'll stay out of the captain's mind."
He glances up at one of the security globes, one of many throughout the hangar bay. One of the AIs was watching, he knew. Luckily, none of the globes had an audio feed.
"Alright then," he says, clambering up the Chaser's ramp, "allons-y!"

"That's my intention" She told him, and if she failed - well it wouldn't really matter now would it? But it seemed a better course of action then just not bothering to try at all, part of her however still wished they were planet side for this little adventure.
"And now she'll just fret about whatever our private meeting might have been about...she's thoroughly convinced that we're all aboard to wreak havoc and mayhem" She commented as he made his way up the ramp. "Come on Ice" She told the waiting astromech "I'll need you to divert any incoming messages for a while" Ice was pretty good at thoroughly infuriating anyone trying to get a hold of her that Jet didn't want to talk to - he was like an automated voice system with a sick sense of humor and could keep people running in circles for hours if needed.
Once they were inside and the ramp had been raised and secured Jet turned her attention to Taaru "Now, one last chance to back out of this - I have melded powers with someone before, but that was Blade and we wound up with an irritating little mental link that didn't go away until well..death, Grifter taught me the theory behind this but he died before actually teaching me..so self taught in the mental department but I've linked with Sagara and now Darren with no ill effects. You know as well as I do that two successful test runs doesn't always mean theres no bugs in the system, but I still think it's our best bet" She told him honestly

"Well, we can always put on a show for her. Come out a bit disheveled, put on a show for the cameras, let gutterminds fill in the gaps...." he offered, in the interest of plausible deniability concerning perceptions of their secret meeting.
They entered the ship's lounge area, Taaru's hands in his pockets, briefly taking one out to play with a wall-ornament resembling a dream catcher of some sort, like a house pet.
"Very posh," he remarks regarding her choice of interior decoration. "Come to think of it, I've never been on the Chaser."
He looks around some more, fiddling with things noncommittally.
He listens, absent-mindedly, as Jet explains the risks, nodding and giving the occasional "Mhm" in response, before finally turning to face her.
"Mmmm......what now?"

Jet could just imagine the stories that would circulate the ship if they did something like that - on the other hand it might be somewhat amusing, ship life was rather dull...one had to take amusement where they could find it. "I'm game if you are" She stated half jokingly.
She'd never considered that he hadn't been in the ship before - but then not to many people had in the grand scheme of things, far less then in most transports her size anyways, nor had she ever really considered what the decorations might look like - she'd furnished it for comfort originally and having been reveling in her new found wealth thanks to Dangerous Waves it was fair to say she hadn't spared much expense, since then however it had become a touch more homey as she'd filled it with various findings from her trips and missions to other planets - the typical things people tended to gather throughout life she'd thought - well as long as you ignored the weaponry, some of which were in various stages of dissembly scattered on a few of the tables and she belatedly kicked a halomag under a lounger. Whatever...it was home away from home. "I'll give you a tour later' She promised
But back to the matter at hand "It's fairly simply really, I'll do as I did with Darren, first finding you in the force - where it would be helpful if you could stop making yourself small - and then linking consciousness with you - except this time I won't be attempting to gain any sort of control or domineer the connection like I do with them, your mind will actually be in the drivers seat for most of this and I'm hoping it will show me what I need to see"

"Good to hear," he says in response to her offer of mutual gratification, plopping down into one of the provided sofas. "It'll give us something to look forward to, should this work."
This he stated with all possible serious, thought whether he MEANT for it to be serious or not would be a mystery to Jet.
He listened patiently to the mechanics of the linking process; though his nervousness drove him the impulsiveness of a man wishing to stall the inevitable, he reigned this in.....he was more eager to have this over with than not.
As she finishes, he sits forward in his seat, clasping his hands in front of him and resting his chin on them. To Jet, the sudden mental feeling of warmth spreading throughout the cabin would be unmistakable, as Taaru extended himself throughout; like a person gasping for air after a long time underwater. It was the sort of warmth you'd feel at the far edge of a raging brushfire.
"Alright," he said finally. "What else do I have to do?"
