Okay I'm going to take a few minutes away from Dragon Age : Origins (yes, I've disappeared to Ferelden for the last month or so if anyone was wondering where I was; I can't help it Alistair is just so smexy) and get this off m chest. As anyone who had checked the updates on Wookieepedia lately knows, Karen Traviss has pulled out of Star Wars writing. It sucks, but hey that's they way things go. Now that didn't bother me too much, her reason for it did. According to her blog, karentraviss.typepad.com/blog/2009/12/sooty-and-a-clean-sweep.html , the Powers that Be have decided to revamp the Mandos. As pacifists. WHAT THE BLOODY HELL?!?! Let's just take thirty-odd years of great stories and set cannon and frak it all up as well as we can. This revisionist osik is getting out of hand. As reigning Mand'alor (when I actually post, which I know has been rare this year with one thing or another, I apologize) I say frak them all and keep our warriors on here!

Where did you hear they're being retconned into pacifists? Clone wars is portraying them as badass Mercenaries again rather than housewives with armor

Are you kidding?! Alistair is just another Carth Onasi/Kaidan Alenko stock character BioWare INSISTS on putting in every single one of their games in their continued quest to make me want to stab my eyes with spoons!
The only person MORE annoying than him in Dragon Age is Claudia Black's Morrigan, which makes me rage every time, because I love Claudia Black's acting/voicework in everything else.
And on the subject of Lucasarts/films/books canon decisions: I have ignored official Star Wars canon since Phantom Menace, and I will continue to do so (though I will still enjoy watching the Clone Wars series).
I'm very sad to see Karen Traviss go. But I'd rather she continue writing solid military science fiction, rather than be dragged beneath the surface by the dying Leviathan that is Lucas' empire.
