Well, I can finally share since my family knows now. I've been sitting on some of this information for a month, and some of it I found out more recently.
My mother is going the 29th to be tested for colon cancer (she had breast cancer two years ago and was supposed to be tested last year, but put it off because my dad died), and next month she is going to probably have to start kidney dialysis.
I was told last week I'm going to have to re-learn how to walk because my brain is not telling me how to walk right with the new shunt, and I have to go to the neurologist next week because I've started having tremors and seizures again, so they think I have something new wrong with me.
We also just found out today, on my mom's birthday, that my sister-in-law, who also has had breast cancer before (and my brother had leukemia a few years ago and almost died) may have uterine or cervical cancer as well as breast cancer again.
Just been a bloody awful set of circumstances, and my stress level has hit the moon. So please take a minute to send all the good energy / good thoughts / prayers you can to my family. We'd really appreciate it!
