Jace had to laugh at that despite everything.
“Do you think we’ll get to him before she does?”

"You're taking a Sith having been in Temple all in stride there. And yes. Though perhaps not by much. and it's all only assuming that the SOPs I put in place have been followed in my absence. ...along with my own ability to slice into the system, as I'll be more disappointed than anything else if it turns out my username is still active. Neither of which have I yet tried to find out."
Mez resisted the urge to ruffle his hair, and picked up her commlink again.
"All units. Our mystery guest earlier was a Sith, and the owner of that Hunter droid. Trail her, but keep out of her attack range."
She shut off the commlink, and looked right at Jace, wishing she could find the calm centre she used to be good at doing, with her emotions regulated by the implant in her arm, but she can't.
"She's smart, and she knew I was lying. Which is a dangerous combination. You tell me right now if you don't think you're going to be able to handle leaving on a trip with me."

“I don’t know if she was a Sith, sure she had the holocron but she seemed more deranged then dangerous.”
He clipped the lightsaber he’d had in his hand back to his belt and looked at her as if she’d grown two heads.
“Of course I want to go.”

"You know what? I've seen lots of Sith who were more deranged - for whatever reason - than dangerous. But she's dangerous. But if you're game, I'm not going to try to talk you out of it."
Mez gestured for him to follow down a corridor, wondering idly why he was looking at her with that expression.

He followed behind and fingered the hilt of the lightsaber.
"If we're going after her don't we need real lightsabers?"

"Kids these days and their lightsabers. You really think you need one? I'm not sure there's the time to spend three days building one the fast way, much less the month you're meant to spend on your first one." Mez frowned, turned around, and walked back one shelfstack to the door which theoretically kept cleaning and service droids in it - though nobody would have ever seen one exit that door.
She pressed a hand to the palmprint scanner, and got a negative beep, and a prick of her blood taken from a finger. "What- inexact genetic match- Oh, I'm just going to hotwire this thing open, I'm in no mood to deal with this," she muttered, and popped the panel beside the scanner.

“Well if I had my own I could give you yours back. If she is a Sith, or a Dark Jedi, that means she’s probably got a lightsaber to. What if you get hurt and I have to help fight her? So yeah, I think we both kind of need them.”
He watched her fiddle with the door and then remove the panel next to the scanner wondering if she should be doing that at all.

"The day I can't hotwire a system I- OW!"
She pulled out her hand and waggled her fingers.

He fought back a laugh.
“Maybe we should enlist the help of a droid. We can always wipe its memory after we’re through.”

"Go ahead and laugh, I don't mind."
She pushed her hand back in and made the final connection, then jumped back when it sparked and opened the door.
"Okay. You go in, there's a manual release on the other side, and if you can't see anything use the lightsaber as a flashstick. I'll fix up the mess I made here because otherwise, who knows, maybe a librarian would be able to walk past and notice the mess I made. Or worse, somebody could sneak in behind us."

He nodded and did as he was told, once inside the dark room he turned the lightsaber on and used its glow to find his way. He found the manual released and used it then shouted back out the door. “It’s done.”

"Goo-ah! Kriff. Must watch out for that."
Mez slipped in through the door and pressed the release again, grinning at Jace in the lightsaber's glow as the door shut behind them.
"Right. Somewhere in here there's a lift shaft. But since you're so insistent on getting your own lightsaber, we'll check the armoury before we leave this floor. Unfortunately, I don't think the lights back here are going to work for me."

He grinned back at her and nodded. He started to walk forward holding the lightsaber out in front of him as a light source then stopped and turned back to her. “I’ve no idea where I’m going. It’s probably best if you lead.” He held the lightsaber out for her to take and moved aside so she could get past him.

It wasn't hard to locate the appropriate glowpanel, and Mez pulled the cover off it easily enough, and started playing with those wires too.
The wall slid aside.
"Armoury. Well. Weapons cache, at least. Go on in."

He nodded and went in ahead of her into the dark room, once he'd passed through it though the room lit up. He blinked against the brightness and waited for the spots to go away before taking in the room. What he saw was rows and rows of blasters, explosives, combat droids, and lightsabers. There were also a few pieces of armor that looked like the kind the Jedi had worn during the Clone Wars. "I think we hit the jackpot."
