"You honestly think you can face anything that comes your way? Well why don't we just see about that."
Taking Talpha by the arm she half dragged the teen out of her room and down to the turbolift. No amount of struggling from Talpha could loosen Erika's grip on her arm. Once on the main level of the mansion the two made their way towards the training room. Erika had not wanted to go to this extreme with Talpha but it seemed it was going to be the only way to drive her point home.

She catches the tossed vibroaxe by the top of the blade head, effortlessly flipping it in her non-shield hand.
"You are aHexer," she responds icily, using a Thruvaran approximate to denote Aaron's force abilities,"you know how duels are fought. First assured kill or incapacitation: Buy'ce, kom'rk, beskar'runi," she points individually to her head, wrist and torso, denoting the traditional strike points for a practice duel.
"And just so you know, I just finished a new paint job, and I don't fancy it being scratched."
Already on her repulsor bubble, Jorunn stretches her shield diagonally across her midsection, raising her axe in a ready position and crouching somewhat.
And she waits.
Dimmly, with her eyes focused on Aaron, she is aware of a pair of jumpjets flashing somewhere near. She deducts her liege has found a suitable perch to watch the proceedings. The fact that Taaru has not contacted her or said so much as a word over their private channel was somewhat unsettling, but she dismissed it as quickly.
((If you're wondering, the strike points and rules are loosely adapted from kendo.))

"This is almost too obvious to mention. I can't imagine your efforts to keep him on a leash," is Konrad's response, having already formed an opinion on Aaron's character.
He turned in his seat towards the footsteps approaching the group. A man, someone he did not know, was speaking to Jet. Judging from where he was standing and the direction he was facing, Konrad wondered whether he'd been in the hangar all along: He certainly hadn't come in the main entrance.
This insignificant mystery was put to rest by the arrival of food, which Konrad welcomed with open arms.
...
"You need a different sort of technology to keep you alive..."
You don't even know the half of it, Miko thought to himself. Thruvarans had quickly learned that survival and ready access to information went hand-in-hand. His abilities as a slicer and cryptograph were invaluable to his people, and to him.
Nevertheless: "It will please you to know that I originally intended to be an antiques dealer, after I retired from the service. My parents weren't too happy with the idea....my father was always intent on my inheriting the family business."
It was his turn to reminisce on painful memories: "But....things change."
He is startled out of his reverie by the arrival of a shadowy figure, arching an eyebrow. Here was someone he HADN'T read about in a dossier.
...
Till grins: "Well, it seems to me that you and I are in the same predicament, Rothk. Come to think of it, I was probably your age when I started helping out of commissioned freighters. I don't know why someone thought it a good idea to put you on a warship, but I figure if you're excited, I should be excited, too."
This, to his own chagrin, was Till's way of admitting his nervousness.

Erika carried talpha's unconscious body through the mansion and back up to her room. In the time they had been in the training room droids had come and fixed the lock Erika earlier destroyed. Laying her daughter on the bed she made sure she was comfortable. A medic droid from the labs was summoned up to look at her. After a quick scan the droid said she would make a full recovery in a couple of days. He applied a few bacta patches to where the blaster and cannon bolts had hit her. Giving his instructions that she will need plenty of rest the droid left the room.
Even though she had know Talpha wasnt badly injured it did give her some sense of relief to hear it from the medic droid. One the droid had left she sat on the edge of the bed and looked down at her daughter. She was still very disappointed over what had happened in the training room, Talpha was smarter than that, she should have been able to complete that exercise without any trouble.
"I had hoped you would do much better."
She said quietly. Standing she left her daughter to get some rest and headed back down to the hanger. Once in the hanger she looked over the crowd that had gathered there to prepare the ships for the upcoming mission. Large tables had been set up near a holovid screen so the men could watch something, though Erika ignored the event. She caught sight of rothk on the other side of the hanger talking with a young mana nd smiled, she was glad he was adjusting well. Jet was sitting on the other side surrounded by a few people she knew as well as some she didnt. The disappointment of the training room still loomed over her so she decided to do some checks on her ship while waiting out this slight anger she had at Talpha's preformance. Boarding the Punda Milia she started to do a systems check and a general sweep of the ship.

Rothk smiled.
"Of course I'm excited. I get to see the world outside of Dathomir. And its great that I wont be the only young person on the ship. If the trip does get boring or too dangerous to leave the ship at least we can keep each other entertained for a while."
He fell silent for a moment and glanced over at Jet.
"Although I'm sure that Jet will keep me busy with training exercises as much as she can."

"You don't keep leashes on people like Aaron - just makes them rebel more, you give them freedom to do as they wish...and a good reason to keep listening to you"
There were other thoughts there but Jet didn't remark on them, her attention it seemed still on Xander and she quirked an eye as he reached for the whiskey but said nothing about it - who was she to chastise someone about drinking after all? Even Jet couldn't be that much of a hypocrite in good conscious. As he seemed to have settled down enough to stay and eat Jet looked back to the rest of her company leaving Xander to merely observe or make comments as he wished. He preferred that way. Absently picking at a variety of fruits Jet caught Miko glancing over Xander but let it go - the man could ask later or ask Xander himself who he was, the mere fact that Jet wasn't concerned about him being in the hanger ought to convey enough about him as far as she was concerned.

"Then don't let me hit you," he said in reply to her paint job statement. With that Aaron entered a command into the suit that turned his riot shield into a perpendicular position to the arm, nearly rendering his wrist and forearm inaccessible to his opponent.
Aaron held his shield arm across his chest in a position that would easily allow him to block a strike at his face or torso with minimal movement. He leaned forward on his repulsors and activated his jump pack, sending himself blasting forward at Joruun. When he was close enough he made a horizantal swipe above his shield with the vibroaxe hoping to force her to fall back with the decreased opportunity of landing a "killing" blow.

((Apologies for not responding sooner. Been busy getting my new apartment set up.)) Jorunn perceives Aaron's activated jump jets in the millisecond priming sequence, watching the foliage behind him to judge his vector. As she has anticipated, he engages a head on charge to open the match. It is the most typical of opening moves, more common than opening with a kintan strider in dejarik.
Needless to say, Jorunn is prepared. Instead of easily taking the blow on her raised shield, she engages offensively, firing a burst from her jumpjets as Aaron initiates his wing. The result is Jorunn entering past the effective blade arc of Aaron's vibroaxe, the handle dinging against her suit's thigh, and Jorunn's bent knee aimed straight at Aaron's bubble visor.

Konrad enjoys a drumstick and assorted fixings of some delicious animal or another as he listens to Jet.
"Interesting leadership style," he says, not quite having swallowed a mouthful. "Tell me, what reasons do you give those loyal to you to remain loyal?"
He finishes with a swig of fruit juice: No drinking for him tonight, as he was posted deck officer.
...
Till follows Rothk's gaze and nods in understanding. "It seems to me like you'll have a whole ship full of potential teachers. This is a good opportunity for you. I think."
Till has not failed to notice the food arriving.
"What do you say we get ourselves something to eat, Spatz?"

"That.."
Jet responded while picking though and assortment of nuts - she had been hungry but Xander's news had rather put her off it for the moment. she'd expected it of course but expecting and actually hearing are two different things. Seeming to have found what he's looking for in a largish white nuts to which she procures a handful and sits back in her chair.
"Is different to each person I meet, and of course such...leadership style ..as you describe it, only applies to those closest to me, most of my regular Navy men and women operate on the same loyalty principles most do - they wish to serve their home world, protect their families the typical reasoning one follows such a career. But...those I let close, well they all have their own individual reasons"
Popping one of the nuts into her mouth she eyes the screens for a few minutes, of course she didn't mention the unstated but well known consequence of betrayal - Jet placed allot of weight on the virtue of loyalty and those who broke it - often regretted it shortly thereafter, for several it had been the last thing they ever felt.

"Yes I am bound to learn many new things."
A smile crossed his face at the mention of food. He too had noticed it's arrival.
"Yeah we better get some before they eat it all."
He turned and lead the way to the line of food tables. With so many new and different foods for him to try he was having a hard time deciding what to pick.

*xander realized that Miko had been looked at him shrugged it off figured Jet would handle that if she needed looking at Jet as she popped a nut in her mouth he sighed slightly before taking his shot. he waited for everyone to finish speaking and whispered to Jet*
"is there anything i should know about?"
*No emotion in his voice as he drank another shot feeling himself loosen up almost to the point of a normal person who hadnt been threw years of abuse by there own father giving the room a small smirk looking exactly like Damon Blade or even Keijen.*
*he reached for another shot for a second before he stopped himself he didnt want to become to relaxed being away from Your "friend" not really anyone else but Jet did he consider a friend could change you like alchohal that wasnt very Xander like*

Aaron deactivated his jump jets and raised his shield the appropriate distance to block the suit's knee with ease. The two suits crashed together with a loud thunk and a slight screeching of metal.
With his vibroaxe's hilt now pressed against Joruun's side Aaron turned the weapon in his hand so that the blade now faced the sky. Holding the weapon against his opponent's outer thigh he initiated an upward swing intending to impact with the armpit of Joruun's suit.

The sound of metal against metal annoys her enough that a rapid eye movement dims the audio sensors to acceptable levels while she is still airborne.
While unaware of Aaron's reversal of the situation, Jorunn's plan of attack has already dictated a proper response: If the opponent is not felled or sufficiently incapacitated by the first closing maneuver, utilize the new position of proximity to greatest effect.
For anyone in Jorunn's position, this meant grappling, which she by cutting her jumpjets and letting the weight of the suit bring her crashing down on top of Aaron. In this instance, her left arm encircles his axe arm at the shoulder socket, and she dimly hears the "Ding" of his axe handle impacting harmlessly against her armor. While MACS suits didn't need a wide arc to make effective use of melee weapons (owing to the microservos that increased the pilot's strength), they still could not compensate for the same limitations experienced by unarmored foes in hand-to-hand combat: 3 dimensional vector geometry. I Jorunn stays within Aaron's effective radius while maintaining her own, she has both defensive and offensive superiority.
With her shield arm pinning his axe arm, her own axe arm is free to swing. This she does, coming in low and swinging up at Aaron's torso.
This a a gambit: If Aaron blocks her with his shield arm, it will dissolve into a contest of strength. And with matching suits, that could become tedious.
