"You didn't fail me, had that happened you would be dead."
Erika stopped herself, this wasn't the way to go about it. Talpha wasn't persuaded like the others of her clan, she needed to be given much more guidance.
"I hope you learned that you are not ready for everything. You need time to adjust and train, only then will you be more prepared for things when they go wrong."

Her shoulders slumped slightly.
"I know that now. It's just that...well you have guards to protect you, so its different for you. They are always there to protect you. I just thought that..."
She didn't know quite what she thought so she fell silent once more, waiting for one of her mothers famous speeches.

Erika sighed and moved over to where her daughter sat on the bed, sitting beside her she looked at her.
"Yes I have guards who's job is to protect me, but you must understand that in times of war my guards are often in fights for their own lives and therefore are not always there to protect me. A dead guard does me no good, so they are excused from their duties during that time and then once they are able to fullfill that duty once more they return to my side."
She smiled slightly at her daughter.
"When you run the clan you will fully understand this. Though there are others in the clan who's first duty is to you, there are times when their duty is to themselves then to you. I'm sure you will understand eventually."

Nodding slightly Talpha now knew why her mother had been so disappointed with her failure int he training room. Talpha had expected help from guards or something, but didn't even consider that there would be times when she would be on her own.
"I think I understand that now. I'm so sorry. I will train hard while you were gone and show you that I can do this."

Her smile grew as she saw a change in her daughter, the determination of showing her mother she could succeed.
"I'm sure you will make me proud."
Giving her daughter a hug she looked her in the eyes.
"I will miss you greatly while I am gone. Please take care of yourself."
Standing she made her way out of the room. She always hated goodbyes so there was no need to drag this on much longer. Making her way to her room she dug through her belonging looking for something to wear to the ceremony. Finding what she believed was the right thing she slipped it on she gathered up her bags and went downstairs.
Once in the hanger she added her bags to the pile Rothk had made near the Punda Milia and sat down next to him. Watching the others file in to finish up some last minute preparations.

Hugging her mother she watched her leave, a few tears rolled down her face. She was going to miss her mother a lot.
"I will prove myself to you."
She said more to herself than anything, promising that she would indeed work hard in her mothers absence to show not only her but Jet and all the others within the DJO that she was more than just a spoiled brat from Dathomir who expected things to be handed to her.

Taaru made a small aside to Jorunn, after which the younger Thruvaran quickly departed with Darren and Erika.
This left only himself, Jet, Aaron and Avery in the kitchen.
From across the kitchen table, Taaru addresses Avery's concerns, also bringing Jet into the conversation.
"If you are concerned with finding an appropriate dress, Avery, I am sure Jet has oh so many spares from the two dozen or so people that have lived on this estate in the past. I think we have a droid somewhere around here that can get it fitted for you, too, isn't that right Jet?"

Jet turned her gaze from the window and nodded at Avery with a slight smile "Of course" Appraising her for a moment "You look to be close to the same size as Steps was...and she was always fashion forward so I'm sure something there might suit you?"

"It's only for a little while, I'm sure I'll make do."
She shrugged a bit and kicked her bag under a table.
"So, where do I go then?"
She pointed upwards and raised her brows in question.

Jet pulled out her com and keyed in a message. "I'll have Hey You - since Ice is busy - meet you in the turbo lift and escort you to the right room..and send for a Tailor droid to meet you there as well, There should be a good selection still sealed in her wardrobes..."

Aaron smiled and lifted himself up into a sitting position on top of the counter. "I guess I'll have to dig out my old tie," he joked. "If I can find it."
He sat quietly as some left while others engaged each other in conversation. He eyed Avery and wagged a finger at her. "Didn't I barrow that dress you mentioned from you," he asked her with false thoughtfulness. "Purple. Right?"

Avery pressed her tongue against the inside of her cheek as she watched Aaron waggle his finger at her.
"I have another in black..."
She stepped closer to him, just close enough to be able to lower her voice down a bit.
"It's too bad you couldn't just leave me with it, but I suppose it's alright. I bet you squeeze into that little skimpy number, look at yourself in the mirror and think... 'I'm so pretty'."
She smiled in a way that made her whole demeanor seem darker. But as quickly as it came, it went. She waggled her eyebrows comically before spinning on her heels to face Jet.
"Turbo lift it is..."
And with that, she took off to go take care of this pesky dress problem.

Jet shook her head at Aaron as Avery left. "Someday...your going to get slapped...or shot at, and I'm not going to stop them"

Taaru's eyebrows shoot up at Jet's comment, and he retorts with some exasperation:
"The other day, he almost had a vibroaxe embedded in his skull. Getting slapped or shot at, I think, are the worst of his worries."
And, remembering events just passed: "And do you really think it necessary to bring ANOTHER child with us, Aaron? I mean, we're a motley, ragtag troupe as it is. Mind you, I have enough children to babysit," he muses, tapping the Reiter shoulder insignia on his overcoat.

"True" Jet muses "but that was in a duel...in suits no less..and just goes to show the trouble he's going to get into ticking off every female in view"
Standing she glances at the time "In any case...I need to also go and choose what I'm going to wear, though I think I'll change there...flying in formal wear is a pain the ass" Waving a finger at Aaron to warn him to keep out of trouble she leaves - and lets Taaru and him sort out the whole..kid thing.
