History/Background: (Considerable shortened cause the first one I wrote was 4 pages long). The Corellian Jedi tradition has long been difference from the larger Jedi tradition. While other Jedi sought to patrol the entire galaxy, Corellian Jedi stayed mainly in the Corellian system. But most importantly, many Corellian Jedi were “wing-clipped mynocks” in the field of telekinesis.
The Shannara family was one of the exceptions. Although technically part of the Halcyon/Horn line, those Halcyons who were unable to utilize TK saw them as strangers, nicknaming them “Shannara,” from the Old Corellian word for shadow, to mean “the unknown ones.” While meant to be a brand, the telekinetic Halcyons took the label as a mantra, living up to it by working subtly in the shadows of the Jedi Order. They were so subtle, in fact, that when Palpatine sent out his Jedi hunters, none of them could find the Halcyon-Shannaras. So they survived the Jedi Purges in silence, living ‘normal’ lives in Coronet City, Corellia, under the assumed name of Breikan.
Four centuries passed, and once again the Sith’s power grew. Shannara Jedi Master Kriost Breikan joined a group of Corellian master in traveling to the Core Worlds to fight against the Sith. They were slaughtered, and, fearing reprocessing against her family, Kriosk’s widow, Jedi Master Taliri Adores, fled with their infant son Kyren to the Outer Rim. One of their passengers was a Nubian Jedi named Lilia Demona; she and Kyren kept of a relationship for several months, but Kyren decided he wanted a wife with… something more. Almost a year after their parting, another Jedi arrived with a three month old baby girl – and news that Lilia had died giving birth to Kyren’s daughter. He named her Sabin, and with help from Taliri, raised her and taught her the skills of the Jedi. But he longed for the woman he dreamed of – exotic, intelligent, and exciting. Two years later, she walked through his door.
Her name was Mavara Zinnias, a female of an unknown species, in service to the people known only as the Kimbarun; she looked mostly human, except for the horizontal brown stripes through her raven hair, and almost cat-like emerald eyes. Even more feline was her feral nature, and for good reason – she was a Huiccai, member of the elite ranks of hunter/assassins serving the Kimbarun. The two flew through a whirlwind courtship – married two months after they met, and pregnant a month after that. Mavara resigned her position with the Huiccai, and a few months later gave birth to Kyren’s second daughter; the baby was named to reflect both their cultures – Jerle, a Corellian name meaning “jewel” and Ashka, from the Kimbaru word for “wisdom” or “purity."
Despite the fact she was only half-Jedi, Jerle quickly surpassed her older sister in power, especially in the traditional Shannara skill of empathy. And, though she hardly ever mentioned it, she could read minds, certain thoughts of other people entering her head as easily as her own. Though competition between the girls would seem natural, they were incredibly close, as was the whole family – Kyren and Mavara taking their children with them on shipping jobs. There were no problems, until one day when Jerle was five and Sabin eight. Their transport was attacked by slavers, and despite some fantastic flying by Mavara and all Kyren’s fighting skills, they were captured and taken to Nal Hutta to be sold. The night before the family was separated, Kyren told his daughters their real last name for the first time – a secret normally kept from Shannara children until their eighteenth birthday. The next day they were sold; neither Jerle or Sabin ever saw their parents again.
Ten years later they were able to escape, but were separated – Sabin headed to Naboo, Jerle heading out of the known universe to find her mother’s people. She never told anyone except the Huiccai why she and her sister were separated, but kept the knowledge in her soul – she had missed the shuttle to Naboo because she had stayed behind to murder their master with her own hands, powered by the dark side. For the next four years she worked as a Huiccai, her anger and hate a fuel that allowed the girl to blast through the ranks, until the only person she answered to was the head of the Huiccai himself.
When given a mission to infiltrate the Jedi, she met a young Jedi named Chras Spaans, they were soon married with four children, the twins Kara Ashka and Keiran Chras, Jerras Kyren, and Ile Sakata. For a time she was trained by both Chras and Keijen Blade, but unfortunately she died giving birth to their fifth child, Adi. Or so it seemed…
