The Gates of Death : DJO Mansion

[Amber Storm]

Amber chuckled slightly as Talpha ran past the gamesroom towards the front door but continued her conversation with Devlin before clicking the comm off and following the wayward girl - at least she was excited about something Amber reflected and maybe she'd grow to like Corellia a little more if she spent some time out and about.

Reaching the main hall she opened the door and ushered Talpha out into the waiting hovercar. "alright lets go" she stated as the hovercar door shut and they were whisked off down the Mansion's driveway.

Over the last week Amber and Talpha hit all the major sites to see on Corellia. It had certainly helped to keep her mind off her mother's absence and was fun as well. She hadn't know there were so many different things to see and do on one planet, and they didn't even see everything either. The trip did have some bumps along the way, but most were minor and didn't cause too much trouble for the two. Carrying her stuffed Rancor that Amber bought her at the zoo along with another armload of various things they entered the mansion.

Amber followed Talpha into the mansion, juggling an armful of bags while trying to talk on the comm at the same time. "Yes Devlin..we're back at the mansion now...yes I'm sure the call from the zoo wasn't pleasant, but don't worry, mom will straighten that out when she gets back, look..the rancor didn't do that much damage and it really wasn't Talpha's fault she thinks their like...giant pets or something...uh huh...yep...alright then" Clicking the com closed she rolled her eyes slightly, Devlin was such a worrier.

Setting the bags down on the closest table Amber looked down at Talpha "well did you have fun?"

Setting her bags down she listened as Amber talked to Devlin on the comm. The mention of the accident at the zoo made her cringe a bit. She had no idea she wasn't supposed to go into the animals exhibits at the zoo, she just merely wanted to try her hand at taming her own rancor, and it had gone ok until that stupid lady screamed in fear when she saw a young girl in the rancor pen, then well things got a little hectic. She smiled at Amber.

"I had alot of fun. We should do that again sometime."

She fell silent for a moment before speaking up again.

"Only this time I won't try to play with the Rancor."

"Probably a good idea" Amber agreed with a smile, the event had been - well interesting at the very least, but at least Talpha didn't seem to completely hate Corellia anymore.

Now that they were back at the mansion however she would see how long that lasted, she would have to initiate some sort of training afterall..of her mother would throw a fit upon her return. Maybe Erika too - and Amber really didn't want to deal with both Jet and Erika in a snippy mood.

"but it really was all that stupid womens fault - I was on the verge of getting you out without them even noticing when she had to start hollering..completely unnecessary"

Talpha nodded.

"Yeah, and I had everything under control up until then...well for the most part."

Looking at the stuffed Rancor on the table she picked it up.

"I think this is the only Rancor I will play with for a while, at least until my mom gets back and teaches me the proper way to tame them."

"Yet another good idea" Amber commented with a slight laugh "But I wouldn't worry about it none...no one got hurt"

Turning her attention to the stuffed rancor she shook her head slightly - Amber had never really gone through the stuffed animal love..but then again she'd had pretty much any real animal she wanted at soe point or another - and other toys had been far more satisfying. Talpha she supposed didn't have much in the toy department...and Amber didn't think there were too many critters on Dathomir that made suitable pets for small children.

"what are you going to name him?"

Holding the Rancor toy out she looked at it carefully, she knew that naming of the real Rancor's back on Dathomir had great significance so she would pick a good name for this one, even though it was just a toy. Thinking hard she struggled to find a good name, then it suddenly came to her.

"I think I will name it Hatari, it means dangerous in Dathomiri."

The name was quite appropriate considering how dangerous an untamed Rancor could be. In fact even tame ones could turn on its owner or others should it decide to no longer be a servant.

"Hatari" Amber repeated as though trying the name out while she eyed the stuffed Rancor critically, she didn't think the stuffed one looked all that dangerous - but she supposed the animal it represented definitely suited the name. "It's a good name" she concluded finally nodding slightly in agreement.

"And now that we've had a bit of fun - I suppose we ought to start on your training a little bit, I know a bit of what you can do - but has your mother started teaching you any of the basic saber techniques or anything yet?"

"Oh yes mother has shown me lots of things with the lightsaber. It's expected that I should have good training."

Her mind wandered to her failure in the training room before her mother left. Lightsaber techniques were one thing but remotes were another, they have very limited access to remotes on Dathomir so that was a completely new thing for her to learn.

"But I'm not very good against remotes yet, only because we don't have any at home."

"Right" Amber remarked after a brief moment of silence. After spending a few days with Talpha, Amber had grown a bit accustomed to her references to what was expected and the way she sometimes forgot not to treat any men they ran across like walking doormats - but it still caught her off guard once in a while.

"Well I expect we should have you practice against those then - though I don't see you getting shot at too often on Dathomir..its still a good skill to have. In fact...we should probably teach you to shoot too - just in case"

Talpha nodded.

"Yeah there aren't many blasters on Dathomir either. The Nightsisters may have some now after their last attacks on the villages but they normally don't. Mother showed me some blasters once, but I never got to shoot them, she said they were dangerous."

Amber smiled slightly in amusement "mmm...so the blasters were dangerous, but the saber was just fine huh?" She shook her head slightly and laughed.

"You really didn't grow up like typical DJO kid...my Grandfather had me shooting blasters practically as soon as i was strong enough to hold one up" Amber smiled slightly - those had been good times. "we'll have to fix that...first you can go to the training room and do a bit of remote work..Ice can..." and amber trailed off slightly with a frown because Jet had taken Ice with her - Amber wasn't used to a mansion without Ice around to keep t running smoothly.

"Well scratch that..since he's not here I guess we'll just have to figure it out ourselves. It's been a while since I used the training room but I'm pretty sure I remember most of it".

Her smile turned to a frown at the mention of remotes and the training room. She dreaded going back there, especially after the last time. She wasn't sure if she was ready for that.

"Um do you think the training room is a good idea? With remotes?"

She shuddered, knowing that she couldn't fail again, for she had to prove to her mother that she could handle things, but the training room down right scared her.

"Isn't there something else we could do?"

She didn't want to tell Amber why she was against the training room, but should she ask then Talpha would tell her.

Amber smiled slightly at Talpha's worry over the training room - she already knew what had happened to her the last time she was there, Jet had told her right before she left and jet had known well..because Jet tended to know everything that happened in the mansion - that was a fact of life Amber had grown to deal with as a child herself.

"Don't worry..it won't be like last time, your mother was making a point - the program you did before would have been easy for you at this age if you had grown up here, but you haven't and we'll start back at the beginning. Hopefully by the time your mom and Jet return you will be able to do that program"
