The Vipers Den


The Vipers Den is a pilots lounge located within the Jedi Temple. It operates as both the hang-out and briefing room for the Jedi Fighter Squadron The Knight Vipers.

Half the room is dedicated to a lounge type setting, with tables,couches, pool tables and other devices of entertainment. A well stocked bar is of course also present. The other half of the room is set up as a briefing center with a state of the art holoscreen and situational operations center.

The Main wall of the briefing center hold's a plaque with the names of deceased Vipers to remind the pilots of the seriousness of thier jobs.

The Vipers were originally created and commanded by Jedi Knight Chase Storm, and crewed by his selection of jedi Knghts and Paladins, the gamble proved profitable and the Knight Vipers have proven themselves in many a battle.

[Mercy Freestrike]

"I don't know how you ever put up with him Nate" Mercy grumbled to thin air as she walked into the Viper's Den. having been dismissed from the Council chambers in much the same manner as a droid would have been - she wasn't even sure if Luke or the others had gotten everything she was trying to express.

Relating emotions to communication was easy for Mercy - she could sense even the smallest flicker, the tiniest tone and together with body language and words spoke interpret it in a heartbeat, it was something she'd been doing for nearly as long as she could remember. But it was a learned skill - and other's easily got the wrong impressions. Mercy had done her best to be well...emotionally blunt with her silent message but who could tell how much of it actually got through.

"emotionally stunted..." The rest of Mercy's words trailed off into internal lamentations as she brought up the viper control center and after sending both Teagan and Daphne a message to meet her here ASAP began to hack covertly into Temple security, not the security the Vipers were allowed into of course - but the security no one but the council were supposed to get into. Mercy however had long ago made herself a few back doors into this system and before long had pulled a few facial shots of the the councils two guests and were running them through a facial recognition program. Camera's were everywhere on all planets - security,traffic,holocam droids...as long as you knew where to look for their recorded images it was pretty amazing just what you could find. She'd see if these two stranger's popped up anywhere.

Shutting off the monitor but letting the program continue to run less anyone come by, Mercy went and poured herself a drink before tuning on the holonet and skimming through the news.

"Can you believe they're still running the Zeltros story," came Teagan's frustrated voice from the entrance. There the Jedi Knight stood, leaning against the door frame, his arms crossed. Having decided to not wear his robe he stood in his new Jedi tunic which consisted of a more utilitarian design, with its forearm wrappings and raised collar. Teagan kept telling himself he had changed his style for practical purposes, but he had to admit that he did appreciate the new look.

"So what's the deal," he asked Mercy, referring to the message she had sent him.

"Oh Teag...they ran the 'Jedi gone wild' piece about me and Daph for months..I'm afraid your in for a bit of a long haul with this story" Mercy replied chuckling slightly a the Zeltros story finished and she twisted about to look at him over the back of the couch.

"Nice...like the look" She remarked after raising a brow and giving him an appraising look. "Green's good on you" she continued before turning around again and lifting a second remote to click on one of the holonet screens of the Viper command center, a differant one obviously then was running the facial recognition program though she doubted Teagan would rat her out.

"Lukes giving us a mission - he want us to go and speak to the Galactic Alliance Chief of State and try to make nice...you me and Daphne, considering the current hostile feelings towards force users." And she motioned to the screen here news footage of citizen marches complete with nasty signs and angry looking senator speeches "it might be an interesting trip"

"Thanks," he replied, his face turning red for a moment. He moved in hopped over the back of the couch, plopping down a foot or so away from Mercy, his back showing obvious signs of improvement.

Teagan groaned as he watched the protesters on the screen. "Could we just do a hot drop and bypass the front entrance completely," he asked grudgingly. "You know I'm not good with crowds."

"I am" Mercy stated with a smile which quickly faltered "But even I don't want to walk into that, unfortunately I don't think the COS would take kindly to us just popping up on the roof of her apartment or office building - though we both know the Vipers could - nor do I think she would like us manipulating her citizens..so my empathy and Daphne's Pheromones are out too"

Frowning slightly - because Mercy disliked anything so straight forward as her current idea, much preferring the more subtle and less visual approaches to information gathering, a hot drop...would b far more fun. 'No I've been giving it some thought and really if we stand any chance of convincing her we're not rogue heathens who want to turn her into a puppet...we have to go in...properly, like actual real official Jedi.."She stated this last bit with a sigh of dread, as though such a thought to Mercy was the worst possible future. How terribly drab and unimaginative..

"Why us though" he asked, a little confused. "You and Daphne aren't looked at very well buy the public...well, the majority of the male population looks at you two just fine I guess." He grinned mischievously before continuing. "But me? I'm more hated than you two. Especially now."

Mercy shrugged slightly, absently twirling a stand of pink hair around her finger - a habit she'd picked up as a kid. "I don't know..because he's Luke?" growling slightly to herself as she recalled thier conversation she picked up her drink and took a long sip.

"He said I had a hard head...and then something about force intuition and this being a true final test..then he told me to bring some other vipers and since" and she waved an arm around the room "we are the only Vipers...maybe he thinks our good personalities will win them over?"

Teagan eye Mercy as she growled, but said nothing.

"Well I can't say he's wrong about you being hard headed," he jabbed. "But a final test? Does he realize what we've all been through? Especially you."

"I'm sure he does - but he also didn't like Chase and since Chase taught me I'm sure he's waiting for some insane DJO fire breathing monster training to come out somewhere" She rolled her eyes slightly "It's completely absurd...and infuriating, but I'm sure in his mind it makes sense" her voice softened slightly 'I mean he was really nice after everything happened..."

She shrugged "But I suppose it doesn't really matter in the end - he's a Master and on the Council and we are Knights, we follow orders..not ask questions" She smiled "At least not to their faces..which reminds me I just escorted some interesting strangers to the Council Chambers"

"Mercy, almost everyone was nice after what happened," he said, understanding what event she was referring to. "That doesn't mean you have to like the guy." He shrugged it along with her as she continued.

"Before I ask why they're so interesting allow me to point out one thing," he proposed. "The whole point of being a Jedi it to ask questions. Without questions we can't grow and without growth the Order will fall. So ask away Mercy, no matter who you're asking." He winked dramatically and smiled.

"Now what caught your fancy about these so called strangers? Are you referring to the GA agents that infiltrated the temple," he asked her, a knowing grin crossing his face.

"Pretty to think so...but they don't always take kindly to it and I tend to get better answers when I look into things on my own" Mercy responded before throwing her hands up in the air as he continued. "Well thats not even fair...I see them do their shifty little hand off in the hanger - escort them all the way to the council room where Kardel boots me out without so much as a by your leave and you already know"

About the same time she finished her rant the blacked out monitor behind them dinged, it had managed to find something, twisting about Mercy flicked the toggle to turn the screen back on with the force - eying the video footage of the two 'strangers' caught by security cameras going in and out of various government buildings and GA starports.

"How did you know they were GA?..I suspected as much - but didn't have any proof yet - they weren't militaristic enough to be Imperial, its somewhat fishy that they've shown up at almost the same time Luke's sending us off to Coruscant don't you think?"

"Let's just say I spend a lot of time in the field," he said after stifling his laughter. "That and no one travels to the Tion Cluster itself. They'd have been more specific. Not to mention it wouldn't take very long to travel through realspace to reach the cluster from here anyway. And since they took the Parlemian Trade route that means only a few organizations would want to get our attention and seeing as how they're not Hapans...I guessed." He took a breath after his lengthy explanation and grinned. "Get all that?"

Mercy reasoned through Teagans explaination with a slight nod and then shrugged. "alright I'll give you that" She sulked before pointing at the screen "but I've still got hard proof" sticking her tongue out at him "Yours is all circumstantial"

Teagan brought his hilt to his hand and pointed it at Mercy's tongue. "You put that thing away before I cut it off Jedi Freestrike," he said sarcastically. "Besides, your evidence supports my theory as well."
